Thank Goodness For Bogdan Bogdanovic
By Rafe Wong
My appreciation for Bogdan Bogdanovic cannot be contained any longer. So here is a piece of everything I have liked about the Sacramento Kings’ rookie so far.
The Sacramento Kings have not been a good team this season. So far, the purple and white have a record of 1-8 which has them currently tied as the second-worst team among their NBA counterparts. But with the Kings’ struggles has appeared a silver lining in the darkness, and that bright spot has been Bogdan Bogdanovic.
Although he achieved many accolades overseas, it was unknown how Bogdanovic would play in the NBA due to the difference in the style of play. He has only appeared in six games so far, but they have been good.
Right now, the former Euroleague star is averaging 10.7 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game while shooting 51.9% from the floor, 33.3% from the perimeter, and 100% from the free throw line. He also has recorded a PER (Player Efficiency Rating) of 16.10 which is solid. Bogdan’s numbers have been decent, but they do not exactly tell the whole story, in my opinion. What is even better is analyzing him actually on the court.
When watching Bogdanovic play, I see a player who has high instincts on the court. He is a player who does not need to score or have the ball in his hands to be effective as he is great in moving without the basketball and setting up his teammates to score. He’s not making the best play for himself but rather for the team everytime which is a refreshing sight to see as a Kings fan.
Yes, it is painful to watch the Kings constantly lose if you are a fan, but let us remember the team is rebuilding. Optimism is still present in the Kings community due to the young talent that the team has on their roster, and Bogdan Bogdanovic keeps increasing that hope with his style of smart and unselfish basketball.
