De’Aaron Fox and the Sacramento Kings opened their preseason campaign tonight against the San Antonio Spurs. Here are some key notes to take away from tonight’s contest.

The new era of proud was introduced tonight as the Sacramento Kings hosted the San Antonio Spurs, where the purple and white won the contest by a score of 106-100.

Veteran Five

The Kings opened tonight’s contest with a lineup of George Hill, Garrett Temple, Vince Carter, Zach Randolph, and Kosta Koufos. It’s not a surprise that Dave Joerger opted for veterans over young talent for tonight’s starting five. The Kings’ head coach has developed a reputation of making sure players on his teams deserve the minutes they are granted. But with that being said, however, all players in the starting five tonight played less than ten minutes

Young Kings Take Action!

Although Sacramento started the game with a lineup of veterans, Joerger decided to go young for the majority of the game. For the fans who watched the game, they were able to see most of the young talent that Sacramento has to offer (excluding Matt Jones and Harry Giles). Out of the youth, the player who stood out the most was De’Aaron Fox

What Does De Fox Say?

For Fox, his performance was as good as anyone could have expected. On offense, he utilized his speed to perfection whether it was to drive to the rim or create separation for his midrange shots. On defense, Fox’s athleticism allowed him to be a pest against opponents, resulting in 1 steal and 1 block for the game. For the match, Fox finished with 16 points, 1 rebound, and 2 assists, while shooting 7-8 from the floor.

Other Kings that had quality performances tonight were Skal Labissiere who recorded 15 points and 4 rebounds while shooting 7-10 from the floor, Frank Mason III who scored 17 points, and George Hill who recorded 5 points and 5 assists in just 9 minutes of play. High optimism that point guards will produce for the Kings this season.

Final Thoughts

Overall, tonight’s contest for Sacramento should give their fans a lot of hope for the team’s future. The veterans played well together in the limited time they had and the young talent also showed great promise while playing with each other on the court.

The next preseason contest for the Kings will again be against the Spurs, only this time around it will be located in San Antonio.
