A Royal Pain continues our take your best shot series with a look at where Kosta Koufos should attempt his field goals on the court.

The Sacramento Kings have a full 15 man roster plus the maximum two players on two-way contracts, but none of those people have been in Sacramento long.  The maximum current stint with the Kings is two full seasons held by Willie Cauley-Stein and Kosta Koufos.  That roster turnover is not healthy, but a different story for another time.

Today, we take a look at Koufos’ on-court game as we try to decide where his best shot is on the court.  Our goal is to inform and hopefully, see increased attempts in that area this season to improve the teams overall offensive production.

Koufos’ best shot

Check out Kosta Koufos’ 2016-2017 shot chart courtesy of NBA stats.

As you can see, Koufos knows his game and plays to that strength.  He is going to get to the rim and try to finish like a traditional big man.  His shot chart is impressive because it shows he gets in the paint or he does not shot.  That is uncommon today with so many players trying to stretch the floor and shot 3-pointers even if they are poor percentage shooters from those areas.  Keep getting down low and attacking Kosta Koufos.

Final Thoughts

There you have it, Kosta Koufos should get within three feet of the basket and score at an above league average rate.  It will be interesting to see how the Kings solve their log jam at the five this season.  To read more about this conundrum, check out this article by my colleague Sanjesh Singh.
