With Nike taking over as the NBA’s on-court apparel manufacturer for the 2017-2018 season, the Sacramento Kings unveiled the first look at their new uniforms.

The Sacramento Kings will be donning a new look this coming season.  In June 2015, Nike won a bidding war to replace Adidas as the NBA’s uniform sponsor.  Their eight-year deal beings with the 2017-2018 season.  Changes were bound to be coming, but they are finally here for the Sacramento Kings.

Tuesday morning (July 18), the Kings unveiled the new uniforms through their Twitter account starting with this tweet.

As you can see, things are a little different.  The Nike Swoosh is visible on the upper right of the jersey, and the new Blue Diamond sponsorship logo lays out nicely on the left.  The sleeves and collar of the jersey are also slightly different and the crown logo has moved from just below the collar to the shorts.

The Kings also announced the jersey is made from recycled fabric, has a modern construction, and is lightweight.

Here is a 360 view of both jerseys from the Sacramento Kings Twitter feed.

A change with Nike

According to ESPN’s Darren Rovell, NBA teams will no longer be required to have traditional home white jerseys.  Each team will have the choice of their default home jersey.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the Sacramento Kings’ new uniforms are similar to the old ones with some new tweaks by Nike.   I am a big fan of the look and hope the innovations are what the players want.  A big part of the uniform has to be the player comfort so that they can perform at maximum efficiency.  I believe Nike did a fantastic job with the new getup.

The Kings will have alternate jersey unveiled at a later date, and it will be interesting to see what pops from those designs.  Stay tuned for more information.
