The Sacramento Kings selected De’Aaron Fox with the fifth overall pick in the NBA Draft.  This article is an instant reaction to that selection.

The pick is in!  After weeks of speculation and rumors, the Sacramento Kings have made their first 2017 draft choice.  The Kings selected De’Aaron Fox from Kentucky.  The Kings have been rumored to be on Fox since the season ended and now he is officially a King.

Instant reaction

Fox was the perfect pick for the Sacramento Kings.  The Kings finally have a point guard on their roster and have a one to rebuild their roster around.  Fox is probably the fastest player in the draft and has a plethora of talent and skill.  Fox is also a great driver and has the potential to be exceptional on defense.  To read more about De’Aaron Fox’s talents check out our prospect profile found here.

Fox is not without his warts, though.  Fox is a bad jump shooter, needs to add some weight, and needs to add polish to his game.  Despite those shortcomings, Fox is a great pick for the Sacramento Kings.

Final Thoughts

The Sacramento Kings knocked it out of the park with the fifth overall pick.  They selected De’Aaron Fox who not only fills a need but gives them a fantastic piece to build around for years to come.  Here is to hoping that Fox is the point guard that leads the Kings back to the playoffs and turns into their franchise player.
