A Royal Pain Prospect Profile: Josh Jackson
Despite trading down from the first pick to the third, Boston says they will select the same player they would have taken at the top. This selection comes down to two players for me: Josh Jackson and Jayson Tatum. Jackson is an ultra-competitive athlete with great two-way potential where Tatum has the talent to become a go-to scorer at the next level. Tatum fits the team better, especially with Jaylen Brown on the roster, but I think Jackson gets the nod here because of Danny Ainge’s past of selecting players with his skill set. Another aspect to keep in mind is the potential that Boston leverages this selection to acquire a Jimmy Butler or Paul George. Teams around the league love Jackson which elevates his trade value.
