15) Portland Trail Blazers- John Collins, Forward, Wake Forest, Sophomore

Stats per game 2016-17: 26.6 MIN/19.2 PTS/62% eFG%/9.8 REB/0.5 AST/1.6 BLK/0.6 STL

Measurements from 2017 NBA Draft Combine: 6’9 ½” height with shoes/225 lbs. /6’11 ¼” wingspan/8’10 ½” standing reach

Expect the Trail Blazers to be active on the draft night with three first-round picks at their disposal. If they stay here, grabbing an athletic big man to spell Jusuf Nurkic would be smart. John Collins was extremely productive this season and specializes in finishing around the basket. He’s effective in the pick and roll, something Portland runs a great deal of with Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum. Collins’ jumper needs improvement to become an all-around threat offensively. He’s athletic enough to make an impact defensively if he develops proper fundamentals. Collins can play the four or five and provides depth for a team lacking any credible big men besides Nurkic.

16) Chicago Bulls- Jarrett Allen, Forward, Texas, Freshman

Stats per game 2016-17: 32.1 MIN/13.4 PTS/57 eFG%/8.4 REB/0.8 AST/1.5 BLK/0.6 STL

Measurements from 2017 NBA Draft Combine: 6’10 ¼ height with shoes/234 lbs. /7’5 ¼ wingspan/9’1 ½” standing reach

With roster questions across the board, Chicago could go a number of ways with this pick. Luke Kennard’s shooting and Donovan Mitchell’s two-way potential make sense for Chicago, but the Bulls look set to retain Jimmy Butler and Dwayne Wade. They need an athletic big man, and Jarret Allen is a fluid seven footer. Allen needs to be physical at the next level but has the measurables to protect the rim. He flashed some ball-handling skills his lone season at Texas playing at the four and is an ideal modern five in the NBA.
