If the Sacramento Kings were to face the Golden State Warriors in a seven-game series, would the purple and white have gotten swept?

The Golden State Warriors were one game shy of achieving the historical feat of going undefeated in the NBA playoffs. The teams they have swept during their playoff run have been the Portland Trailblazers, Utah Jazz, and the San Antonio Spurs.

There is no doubt that this season the Kings were inferior to the three teams listed above, but with that being said, would the Kings get at least one win against the Warriors in a playoff series?

My Thoughts

In my opinion, the Kings would have taken Golden State to five games, but that would probably be it. I have always taken the stance that the Kings would take any NBA team to at least five games in a seven-game series. The reason why? The Kings are a confusing team.

The Kings have been a weird team for a long time. It may be unknown outside the Kings community, but the purple and white have had a reputation where they play to the same level as their competition. As a result, the Kings usually play their best basketball against the powerhouse teams in the NBA, which is awesome, but they also play some of their worst games against inferior opponents, which is bad for Kings fans.

The history of the Kings has made this notion true. During this season alone, the Kings have defeated teams like the Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers, and the Toronto Raptors twice. With those surprising upset wins, the Kings have also had their share of agonizing defeats against teams like the Los Angeles Lakers, Philadephia 76ers, and the Brooklyn Nets.

Final Thoughts

In my opinion, there are a lot of teams in the NBA that would beat the Kings in a seven-game series, but with that being said, I believe the Kings would win at least one game against any team in the NBA if they were to face them in a playoff series. This means the Warriors as well.

No matter how much the organization changes its roster, the Kings always find a way to continue a pattern of playing well agianst elite competition while struggling against the lesser teams in the NBA. This causes many Kings fans to scratch their heads on a gamely basis, but at least it is good to know that there is a good chance that the purple and white will give a team a run for their money IF the Kings get back to the postseason.
