6. Orlando Magic- Jonathan Isaac- SF/PF- Florida State

In my first mock draft, I outlined the Magic’s needs as a wing and a point guard.  I stand by those comments, but with the necessity of a small forward that can play between Evan Fournier and Aaron Gordon, the Magic appear to have a pretty obvious decision at pick six.

Why Jonathan Isaac?

Jonathan Isaac’s A Royal Prospect Profile

As I wrote in Isaac’s Prospect Profile, he has the most defensive potential in this draft class.  He is long with a huge wingspan.  Isaac also features rebounding ability and capacity to protect the rim at a non-traditional position.  Throw Isaac on a Magic team that ranked 24th in defensive rating last season, and that is a huge need filled.

Isaac also can play some stretch four and guard multiple positions adding to Orlando’s versatility.

I am very high on Isaac, and the Magic would be lucky to snag him at sixth overall.  Twenty years from now, we may look back at Jonathan Isaac being one of the steals of this draft class.
