9. Dallas Mavericks- Dennis Smith Jr. – PG- North Carolina State

The Dallas Mavericks searched for their starting point guard of the future all season.  They waived Deron Williams after realizing he was not the long-term answer.  Then, they tried Seth Curry and Yogi Ferrell, two young pieces best suited as two guards in my opinion.  They have the reserves in J.J. Barea and Devin Harris, but as the saying goes, they have all the fixings now all they need is the steak.

Why Dennis Smith Jr.?

Dennis Smith Jr.’s A Royal Prospect Profile

Luckily for them, this draft has a plethora of point guards who have star potential.  If Dennis Smith Jr. is the selection, Mavericks fans should be ecstatic.  Smith Jr. is an exceptional athlete and highlight maker.  He will get the fans jumping out of their seats and cheering.

The more film of Smith Jr. that I watched the more impressed I was with his game.  He can get to the cup and uses his freaky athleticism well.  Smith Jr. has areas he needs to improve to be elite at the next level, but this is a chunk of talent any team would be pleased to have the chance to mold into greatness.
