This article takes a look at the Sacramento Kings’ schedule for the week of March 27 to April 2 to give you a guide of what is ahead.
The Sacramento Kings enter this week coming off a great win. On Sunday, the Kings invaded the Staples Center and defeated the LA Clippers 98-97 in an exhilarating game. Sacramento erased an 18 point fourth quarter deficit to win the game by displaying a great team effort. Below is a highlight video from that game in case you missed the action.
This week the Sacramento Kings play four games split evenly between home and road. They travel home for the second of a back-to-back tonight (Monday) and they also play a back-to-back on Friday and Saturday. It is a difficult week for the Kings, so let us now examine each game a little closer to help you set your schedule.
Game 74 vs Memphis Grizzlies
When- Monday, March 27 at 7:30 p.m. Pacific
Where- Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California
Monday’s game is the fourth and final chance for Coach Joerger to get revenge on his former team. He coached the Grizzlies for nine years including the last three as head coach before coming to Sacramento. You can bet he will have his young Kings’ squad fired up to defeat his former team and players on Monday.
Game 75 vs Utah Jazz
When- Wednesday, March 29 at 7:30 p.m. Pacific
Where- Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California
Wednesday marks the final home game of the week and the fourth and final meeting this regular season with the Utah Jazz. Utah has been victorious in two of the three previous meetings. The last two meetings between the teams have been decided by one point including an overtime contest earlier this month. The Sacramento Kings will be faced with yet another chance to defeat the Jazz and diminish Utah’s playoff seed.
Game 76 at New Orleans Pelicans
When- Friday, March 31 at 5:00 p.m. Pacific
Where- Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana
The national headlines will score this as a DeMarcus Cousins revenge game, but I prefer to look at it as a chance for the Kings to beat a quality team and show the world they made the right move.
MUST READ: Sacramento Kings are United and it Feels So Good
It will be the first chance for DeMarcus Cousins to face the Kings in his career. I expect the Pelicans will feed him the ball in an attempt to make Sacramento regret they ever dealt him away. Plenty of storylines to follow in this game so expect more information as the tipoff draws nearer.
Game 77 at Minnesota Timberwolves
When- Saturday, April 1 at 5:00 p.m. Pacific
Where- Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota
Saturday marks the second of a back-to-back and your last chance to see the Kings matchup against Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins this season. I expect Tyreke Evans to play against his former team, so he will likely be out in this game. I am excited to watch Towns and Wiggins try to break down this young and scrappy Kings team.
Summary
There you have it, my Sacramento Kings weekly preview. Hopefully, this helps you plan your schedule and allows you to enjoy some Kings’ basketball.
