These are the Kings that provide us with ulcers, keep us on the edge of our seats, and make us rise to our feet, but this is what we want to see! The Sacramento Kings are united and it feels so good!

Faith in Sacramento has been restored! The Kings came out on top 98-97 in a head to head and well-fought battle against the LA Clippers on Sunday. These are the Kings that provide us with ulcers, keep us on the edge of our seats, and make us rise to our feet, but this is what we want to see! The Sacramento Kings are united and it feels so good!

The Kings differ from the majority of teams in the NBA in a unique way. Most teams have their one or two “playmakers” that they ask to do everything. That is great and it definitely works for some teams. The NBA offers long seasons and with that amount of gameplay, the risk of injury is high – very high. Some coaches even opt to rest players. What happens when injuries occur?  Or your “playmaker” has to miss a game for any reason? It’s a hard pill to swallow but the teams suffer because they rely entirely on their “playmakers”. Look to the East: LeBron James rests for one game or even worse he sat out for 9 minutes verse the Detroit Pistons and in those nine minutes James sat out 23 points were scored against the Cavaliers. This isn’t good.

The Kings Way

Sacramento has talent across the board. They have young talent and seasoned vets starting games and the group is looking better and better every game. Coach Joerger is doing an excellent job mixing up the talent. If Kosta Koufos is out, Willie Cauley-Stein or Georgios Papagiannis picks up the slack. Not that Koufos isn’t fantastic because he absolutely is.  The thing is you almost forget he’s out because our big guys are all great and equipped to get the job done.  Our point guards have depth as well. From Darren Collison to Ty Lawson, the world doesn’t stop spinning and that’s special in today’s NBA.

The Kings are developing and working hard to win ball games, but I like their style as a team and what they are becoming. The Kings haven’t had great success this season with all the changes but the wins that we do see aren’t coming from one high-scoring individual. These are team wins from the Kings. The entire team is working together to make plays and shots and that’s exactly what wins ball games!
