De’Aaron Fox | PG | Kentucky Wildcats

(Friday – 9:39 EST)

Facing off against Lonzo Ball on Friday will be De’Aaron Fox who runs the point for Kentucky. Fox has been solid throughout the opening weekend for the Wildcats. He led the team in scoring with 19 points in the opener against Northern Kentucky, adding 3 dimes and 2 rebounds in the process.

He looked strong in their second round matchup with Wichita State as well. He produced 14 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist. The assist totals throughout the weekend were a little concerning, but that feels more like a product of the offense. For the season, Fox didn’t rack up eye-popping totals, averaging 4.6 assists per game. He also averaged 16.1 points and 4 rebounds in his 29 minutes per game. Fox wasn’t even an average three-point shooter this season hitting just 23.4% from behind the arc on two attempts per game.

He did get to the free throw line with regularity averaging almost six attempts per game hitting close to 73% of them. Something that a good point guard does when they lack the accuracy from deep.

The Sacramento Kings are searching for their point guard of the future, and Fox could be their guy. He could do enough offensively, especially if he is surrounded to mitigate his lack of shooting. Russell Westbrook is the best example of the point guard who excels at the next level. Now I’m not saying Fox is the next Westbrook, but a Westbrookesque player could be his NBA future.
