Despite taking a loss against the San Antonio Spurs, the Kings finally showed some gusto.  This article examines the good that can be taken from Wednesday’s game.

Heading into tonight’s matchup, the Kings had lost their last five games.  Instead of letting the slump get the best of them, they came out blazing hot, outscoring their opponent in the first quarter 37-15.  Not what you would expect going up against the number two team in the Western NBA Conference, the San Antonio Spurs. Watching these Kings is like watching a new team jam on the floor.  They fell short against the Spurs 104-114 but we’re loving this fresh, impressive determination.

Sacramento leads the 1st half against the Spurs 59-27. Darren Collison was red hot with his handles and connected on strategic perimeter passes to the hands of Tyreke Evans, who made 26 points look easy. Kosta Koufas the seven-foot glass protector, had a mean hook shot all night long scoring 12 points. Buddy Hield sunk three 3-point shots. Skal Labissiere lived up to his nickname “The Haitian Sensation” and added 15 points to the board.

Turnovers

It’s no secret that the Kings biggest fundamental issue as a team has been turnovers. The Kings left their butter fingers in Sacramento and held on to the ball in San Antonio during the first half; which is at least some progress and we will take it. The second half ball security wasn’t as tight and the Kings turned the ball over 13 times.

Exciting Team

The Kings have been solid all season keeping fans on the edge night after night with nail-biting games. They are always a mere couple of points off the winning mark and it’s been heartbreaking.  The most recent close call was March 5th against the Utah Jazz with a final score of 109-110. The Kings can do better than this.

Conclusion

Have they finally found their jam? Judging by their newfound fire, I would say yes! It’s been a rough couple of weeks. Getting a new team acclimated to playing styles, technique and what each player individually expects on the floor to get the job done every time isn’t easy. Clearly, their drive and determination are coming to fruition and we are anxiously anticipating the end of this losing streak!
