27. Rick Adelman Departure: As mentioned in the previous slide, there’s no question that during the Sacramento era Rick Adelman was the best head coach the Kings organization has had. Since stepping on Sacramento soil, Adelman has made the Kings relevant by making the playoffs every season he has coached with the Kings. But ownership didn’t care.

Despite having a record of 395-229 and making the playoffs for 8 straight seasons, ownership decided not to renew Adelman’s contract with the Kings in 2006, resulting in him leaving. Since then, the Kings have not contended for the postseason and have had 8 different head coaches since.
