Darren Collison

The signing of Darren Collison came to a surprise to many Kings fans who envisioned the Kings resigning Isaiah Thomas as the starting point guard for the 2014-15 season.

The Kings, however, parted ways with Isaiah and signed Darren to a three-year contract worth roughly $3 million. Darren clicked immediately with franchise cornerstones DeMarcus Cousins and Rudy Gay and led one of the most productive starting 5’s in the NBA last season.

Darren had his most productive season in the NBA, putting up a career-high 16.1 points per game.  His per 36 numbers aren’t flashy but he provided the Kings with a lead guard who wasn’t overmatched on defense night-in and night-out and who was less of a black hole on offense as the aforementioned Thomas.

Unfortunately, coaching turmoil and an injury to Darren ruined what could have been a good season for the Kings. Due to the addition of Rajon Rondo, Darren is likely to play more of a combo guard role in coming season but look for him to continue his solid play.
