Darren Collison
Last season Collison was the most efficient and consistent shooter on the Kings roster, as he shot .473 overall from the court and .373 from the perimeter. There are uncertainties however about whether Collison will be able to replicate how he shot last season.
Because the Kings signed fellow point guard Rajon Rondo this offseason, Collison’s role might be getting smaller. Even if that’s the case, I don’t find it enough to be convinced that Collison’s level of efficiency on the court will decline.
Whether Collison starts or backs up Rondo, I still see success. If Collison does start, he most likely will start at the two guard position next to Rondo. If Collison does play two guard, his new role will give him more liberty to score and shoot. Plus considering Rondo’s mindset is to pass over score, Collison will see his touches come if this is the scenario the Kings decide to go with.
If Collison is put on the bench, he will be the best reserve player on the team. Throughout his career, Collison has already experienced being a backup, and has gained a reputation to being very good at it. If the Kings elect for Collison to come off the bench, expect him to be a scoring spark plug for his team. Overall, the numbers may go down for Collison this season, but the level of efficiency I think will remain the same if not better.
