The Sacramento Kings Are the ‘Can’t Get Right’ Crew

How many of your remember the late 90’s movie called “Life” starring Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence? If you remember that funny movie, you will remember a scene in the film where Murphy and Lawrence meats a deaf baseball player, and the warden dubs him “can’t get right.”

That’s what the Sacramento Kings are right now – the “can’t get right” crew.

Now, there is nothing wrong with their hearing, as I believe the Kings can hear perfectly clear. But when it comes to their play on the court, the Kings just can’t get it together. Would it kill them to play credible defense? Not stellar defense, not even so-so defense, but credible defense where we actually can recognize the defensive stances?

Would it kill Jason Thompson to have a game where he is scoring more than five points? His game was awful tonight against the Heat, and to make it even worse, Chris Bosh ran all over him. Would it Kill the Kings front office to actually get rid of Thompson?

But that’s the “can’t get right” crew, the crew that can’t string together consistent performances.

Maybe the coach is just simply terrible at doing his job? Or maybe the Kings were missing Rudy Gay’s shooting? Or maybe if the Kings even hallway cared about beating a Heat team who is equally short-handed, then maybe the Kings would had had a better result than the flat-out lazy 95-83 loss at the hands of the boys from South Beach.

Is taking a step back in 2023-24 inevitable for the Sacramento Kings?

  • And yes, lazy is the perfect word to describe the Kings performance tonight. They were down from the tip, and stayed down. The Kings never scored no more than 22 points a period, and even scored in the teens (17) in a third period that saw the Heat pull the finger on the trigger of this game.

Is there still hope that the “can’t get right” crew can get back into the playoff race? The lie is they can. The truth is, it’s pretty much over for the Kings chances to make the playoffs this season. I’m calling it now.

The “can’t get right” crew just can’t seem to get out of their own way, and maybe we as Kings fans should start looking ahead another summer of seeing what the Kings do in the draft, because for what we are seeing, it’s a done deal for this crew.

The “can’t get right” crew just can’t seem to get it right.
