Poor Isaiah Thomas. There was probably a time in his life that being thought of in the same breath as former Detroit Pistons star point Isiah Thomas would have been pretty neat, but the Sacramento Kings guard is likely tiring of it.
On Thursday, ESPN aired a fantastic documentary on Isiah Thomas and his ’80’s ‘Bad Boys’ which for some reason prompted fans to tweet the Kings guard, not only thinking he was Isiah Thomas (a common occurrence) but also suggesting that Isiah Thomas was the father of the former Washington Huskies talent.
Really?
This of course isn’t the first time we’ve seen ‘fans’ get confused in regards to Isaiah Thomas and his name, though, given the recent hype around the ESPN documentary it seems to be happening at a far greater pace.
IT was ironically named after the older Thomas after his father, a Los Angeles Lakers fan bet his best friend the Lakers would defeat Isiah and his Pistons in the 1989 NBA Finals. That didn’t happen and thus, the name held.
You may recall the uncharacteristic boo’s for Isaiah Thomas every time he plays at Madison Square Garden as well, as Knicks fans opt to boo him just for sharing the ‘same name’ as the former Detroit Pistons nemesis.
