The next time you see Marcus Thornton posting random rap lyrics on Twitter, he’ll be doing it as a member of the Brooklyn Nets as Thornton was traded to the Nets this morning in a three-player deal.

In exchange, the Kings will be acquiring point guard Jason Terry and power forward (and everybody’s favorite crotch puncher) Reggie Evans.

Per RealGM:

"The Sacramento Kings and Brooklyn Nets have agreed to a trade of Jason Terry and Reggie Evans for Marcus Thornton.Thornton has fallen in the Kings’ rotation, while the Nets could use an individual scorer in the backcourt. The Nets preferred acquiring Jarrett Jack, but were unable to find a third team to take on Terry in those scenarios."

It’s possible the additions of Terry and Evans could potentially open up another deal.

The trade will essentially allow the Kings to break apart Thornton’s $8 million dollar contract into two more tradeable assets as Terry is due $5.8 million next season while Reggie Evans is due $1.7 – both in the final year of their contracts.

We’ll have more reaction on the trades once the deadline is complete.
