For years now, fans of the Sacramento Kings have wondered why Chris Webber hasn’t taken a role within the organization. The open invite to Vlade Divac was well known, though, for some reason Webber – who had mentioned a desire to get into coaching or a front office role – never was publicly offered a role within the organization.

Given his history with the franchise and the needed mentoring of young star DeMarcus Cousins, one would have thought Webber could have been of service at some point – and maybe he will. But for now, it’s former rival Shaquille O’Neal who will be doing the mentoring of Cousins which Webber didn’t seem overly thrilled with during a conference call with Turner Sports this morning.

Webber was asked about the addition of O’Neal to the Kings ownership group, who said while he’s happy for him as a friend, it’s ‘disgusting’ as a former King:

"“Yeah that’s something,” Webber said. “I’ve talked to the ownership group and Shaq is my boy. So as a friend, I’m happy he’s an owner. As a King, it’s disgusting.”"
