The Sacramento Kings had a gutty performance tonight as they defeated the Los Angeles Lakers by a score of 97-96.
Listed down below are the highs and lows that happened in tonight’s contest pertaining to the Kings.
HIGHS
DeMarcus Cousins: DeMarcus Cousins pretty much dominated again for his team. For the night, Cousins recorded a whopping 40 points, 12 rebounds, and 8 assists. There were spurts throughout the game where Sacramento let Los Angeles come back into the contest. The main reason why was because Boogie was resting on the bench. But when Cousins was on the hardwood, the Lakers’ defense had no answer defending the All-Star big.
Ben Collison: The duo of Darren Collison and Ben McLemore played well tonight as they continue their efficiency in the month of February. For the night, the pair combined for 26 points, 8 assists, and 8 rebounds while shooting 9-21 from the floor. In the last week, the Collison-McLemore combo has helped their team win games, and it remained the case tonight at the Staples Center.
Arron Afflalo: Arron Afflalo was a big plus for the Kings tonight on the offensive end. For the night, Afflalo recorded 13 points while shooting 5-7 from the floor. After having a hot month of January, Afflalo has suddenly cooled off. But Afflalo did bounce back tonight as he had his best performance so far in the month of February. Hopefully, this performance gets Afflalo back in rhythm going forward.
LOWS
Turnovers: Nothing new for Kings fans to witness this season as tonight the Sacramento Kings turned the ball over 17 times. Turnovers are the main issue for the Kings on the offensive end, and their offense cannot reach its potential until the Kings start taking care of the ball.
Perimeter Shooting: The Kings struggled tonight in making their shots from beyond the perimeter as they made just 7 three-pointers out of their 24 attempts. For the game, only two Kings made more than one three-pointer for the night. Those players are DeMarcus Cousins who went 2-7 and Ben McLemore who went 3-5 from the perimeter.
Lou Williams: The Kings’ defense did a pretty decent job against players not named Lou Williams tonight. Williams, on the other hand, was a major spark plug for the Lakers as he almost single-handedly completed a double-digit comeback for his team. For the night, Williams scored 29 points while shooting 10-18 from the floor. Seventeen of Williams’ points were scored in the fourth quarter.
