At one point, Sacramento Kings players and shoe commercials seemed to go hand-in-hand. If it wasn’t Jason Williams performing his dribbling magic in Nike’s ‘Freestyle’ commercials it was Chris Webber running down a rainy street in his Dada’s as Mary J. Blige sang the hook from her hit song, ‘My Life’.
Of course, as the Kings began to lose name talent and games, those endorsements dried up but things are quickly turning around as the Kings are slowly becoming national products yet again. In recent days we’ve seen the Kings mentioned on Saturday Night Live and now we have point guard Isaiah Thomas staring in Reebok’s newest ad campaign, ‘Game Recognize Game’.
Thomas joins some familiar Reebok faces like Nerlens Noel of the Philadelphia 76ers and Jason Terry of the Brooklyn Nets in a pickup game where the Kings’ pint sized point shows off some of his fancy moves.
Might not be on the same level as Williams or Webber, but still nice to see a King getting some national spotlight love.
