Bad breakups are never fun and a bad breakup is exactly how former Sacramento King Thomas Robinson described his exit from Sacramento when he was traded during last month’s deadline.

Speaking to Slam Magazine, Robinson didn’t hold back when talking about his former employer, saying he felt somewhat disrespected and given up on and has every intention of making the Kings aware of what they sent packing:

SLAM: How do you feel about being traded in your rookie year?

TR: I don’t know…happy, disrespected. Somewhere between those two. I feel like I got dumped. That’s how I feel. Bad breakup. So I’m gonna make my ex hate me the next time they see me.

Robinson succeeded in college thanks to a lack of respect (at least in his mind) and carried that same drive to the NBA when he slipped in the draft, though, the ease of success didn’t immediately translate as well as it did in the college level.

T-Rob also commented on the lack of veteran mentorship on the Kings – something that the sometimes volatile DeMarcus Cousins also recently explained to Slam a few weeks back:

SLAM: Did you get any veteran mentoring in Sacramento?

TR: I haven’t experienced that yet. Some of the guys did work with me, but I’m not two or three years in, I’m still in my rookie season. But it ain’t about them no more.

Run up and down the Sacramento Kings’ roster and chances are – you’ll find a player that is either currently or at the least, has been frustrated with his situation. Apparently for the now traded Thomas Robinson, it was no different. Speaking to Hoopsworld, Tyreke Evans, who’s also been rumored to have been less than thrilled with his Sacramento situation in the past said the former Jayhawk was growing tired of his time in Sacramento:

“[Robinson] is going to be pretty good,” Evans told HOOPSWORLD. “He’s young and got a lot of talent. He was a little frustrated here, but the same thing [happened] with (current Utah Jazz forward) Derrick Favors. He was in New Jersey frustrated, went to Utah and now he’s playing good.”

Robinson, who’s dealt with some of the most difficult circumstances one can in life, has an all-world heart both on and off of the court, though, there were some that expressed frustration with his cockiness on that said floor.

With that said though, on a team who’ll be pushing thirty wins if they’re lucky, it’s difficult and frustrating to watch a top five pick struggle to find minutes – especially given his solid play outside of December where the athletic big man struggled.

What’s done is done – though, it’s hard not to imagine King fans looking back on this deal in a few years and still not shake their head.
