From a selfish and statistical standpoint, J.J. Hickson debuted in Israel with flying colors. The new Kings big man put up 20 and 8 in his opening game for Bnei Hasharon, but unfortunately for him, the rest of the team couldn’t put it together as they gave up 62 points in the first half (mind you, 20 minutes total). Hickson’s Bnei Hasharon lost the game 119-80.

On the plus side for Hickson, at least he didn’t sign with Ironi Ashkelon, who according to the Jerusalm Post, had to break their practice multiple times out of safety concerns:

However, despite having to run for safety several times during Saturday’s training session following the rocket attacks on Ashkelon, Eric Alfasi’s men held on for a deserved win at Malha, prompting Jerusalem fans to boo their team off the court.

So for JJ – the loss wasn’t the worst thing that could have happened to him.

Also? I’d prefer my power forwards return state side in one piece, so um, let’s get the lockout thing fixed – mmkay? Many thanks.
