Darren Collison has proven to be a fierce competitor and a teammate that the Kings can count on. He led the Kings scoring by putting 19 points on the board against the Orlando Magic.

The Sacramento Kings brushed themselves off and came into the Golden One Center ready to make the Orlando Magic disappear. After a couple of close calls, that’s exactly what the Kings did Monday night defeating Orlando 120-115. Darren Collison was on point and you would expect nothing less than a win. Coming off of an 8-game losing streak, this majestic win was just what Sacramento needed to get back in action.  Below is a highlight from the game to give you a glimpse at Collison’s play and the Kings victory.

Darren Collison Stands Tall

We are all well-aware that the Sacramento Kings have undergone some serious mid-season changes. The Kings have acquired new talent and traded talent away. The Kings have suffered heartbreaking losses and losing streaks. Losses so close that only a point stood between them and the win.  Amongst the close calls and drama, one thing has remained certain and that’s Darren Collison’s drive to the basket.

Darren Collison has proven to be a fierce competitor and a teammate that the Kings can count on. He led the Kings scoring by putting 19 points on the board and had 13 assists.  This season, Collison averages 13.4 points per game, 47.8 field goal percentage, and 4.4 assists while playing 30.8 minutes per game. Since the Kings’ roster changes in February, his stats are increasing every game. Establishing more playing time, he’s developing his game making him a stronger offensive player.

“I thought Darren Collison played a heck of a floor game. Not just scoring, but setting up Willie on some rim runs and finding guys on the open 3s,” Coach Joerger said after the game.

Alley-oop after alley-oop to Willie Cauley-Stein, Anthony Tolliver sunk 5 three-pointers, Buddy Hield scored 17 points. These Kings we have been watching are starting to look like a victorious basketball team. Darren Collison is leading the Kings to a new chapter of basketball. It may be a bumpy road but with solid players doing the dirty work on the court there isn’t any reason the Kings can’t rise to the top. Kings fans can’t wait to see this!
