The Sacramento Kings lost their game yesterday to the Charlotte Hornets by a score of 99-85. Listed down below are the highs and lows of yesterday’s game pertaining to the Sacramento Kings.

HIGHS

Ben McLemore: Ben McLemore started the game slowly, but as the match progressed, he was able to find a rhythm which resulted in him being the leading scorer for the Kings. For the night, McLemore scored 18 points while shooting 7-15 from the floor and 3-7 from the perimeter. In the last few weeks, McLemore has been able to turn his season around. In the month of February, McLemore is averaging 13 points per game while shooting 45% from the court and 50.9% from the three-point line.

Three-Point Shooting: The Kings as a collective whole had a solid night shooting from beyond the perimeter. For the night, the players wearing black were able to make 39.3% of their three-point attempts which played a big part in their offensive production in the game.

Skal Labissiere: Skal Labissiere had a very nice outing yesterday as he recorded 8 points and 13 rebounds. The Kings may not know whether trading Cousins will benefit them going forward, but at the time being, the trade is definitely benefitting Labissiere. It’s only a two-game sample size, but since the Kings have returned from the All-Star break, Labissiere is averaging 10 points and 8 rebounds per game while shooting 52.9% from the floor.

LOWS

Turnovers: Once again turnovers are the Achilles heel for the Sacramento Kings. In yesterday’s game, the Kings recorded 14 turnovers for the night. As a result, the offense for Sacramento was stagnant at times which gave the Hornets momentum throughout the game. It’s been a broken record all season long, but when the Kings start to limit their turnovers, the more efficient the team will be on offense.

Point Guards: The duo of Darren Collison and Ty Lawson had a tough outing yesterday. For the game, the pair of guards recorded just 14 points, 7 assists, and 6 rebounds while shooting 38.4% from the floor. In my opinion, Collison and Lawson are two of the top five offensive players for the Sacramento Kings currently, meaning they have high expectations to help the Kings score points on a nightly basis. Based on how they performed last night, they underachieved.

Willie Cauley-Stein: After having a career night last Thursday, Willie Cauley-Stein struggled to find any flow against the Hornets. For the game, Cauley-Stein scored just 2 points while shooting 0-5 from the floor. The Kings’ center also recorded just 2 rebounds for the game as well. In the last month and a half, Trill has showcased a gradual pattern of improvement in his overall game, but yesterday’s outing was a setback on what has been a great month for Willie.
