The Sacramento Kings had themselves quite a game yesterday night as they crushed the Phoenix Suns 116-94.

Notable performances from the Kings were DeMarcus Cousins who recorded 29 points and 11 rebounds, Rajon Rondo who dished out 12 assists, and Willie Cauley-Stein who recorded 26 points. Not too bad for someone that is a supposed “offensive liability”.

Notable players on the Phoenix Suns were Alex Len who recorded 14 points and 7 rebounds, John Jenkins who scored 11 points and grabbed 8 rebounds, and Devin Booker who scored 26 points and notched in 5 rebounds.

The Kings have been terribly disappointing based on their record this season, but there are still a few NBA teams that are doing worse than them. The Phoenix Suns being one of those teams

With the combination of the Suns struggling this year and having their best player in Brandon Knight out with an upset stomach, the game was handed to the Kings on a silver platter and boy did they take advantage of it.

With that being said, here are some important notes to take away from last night’s victory:

  • Rajon Rondo now has the Sacramento Kings (Sacramento-era) record of most assists recorded in a single season with 795 and counting.
  • Willie Cauley-Stein recorded his career-high in points with 26.
  • The Kings only the turned the ball over 12 times compared to Phoenix’s 22.
  • DeMarcus Cousins recorded his 45th double-double last night. He is now tied third in the NBA with John Wall in this category.
  • Seth Curry made his first career start and played 26 minutes. He finished the game with 12 points.
  • Yesterday’s game had a pair of royal birthdays in Marco Belinelli and James Anderson. Belinelli left the game early due to an injured foot (Maybe he ate too much cake?).
  • Combining the 2nd and 3rd quarters the Kings outscored the Suns 64-40.
  • In the NBA Draft, draft players from the University of Kentucky. They’re pretty good.

Overall, the Kings faced an inferior team that was missing their best player and, at least for last night, did what good teams do in these scenarios. Dominant

It has been a while since the Kings have played a good all-around game, and although the postseason will not be in the King’s future anytime soon it’s nice to see the purple and white (last night baby blue and red) come out on top in convincing fashion.

The Kings will look to build on this win as their next opponent will be against the Dallas Mavericks Sunday afternoon.
