Throughout this season fans of the Sacramento Kings have seen two versions of their beloved team.

One version of the team is filled with talented players that have played up to their potential, and it has shown it with wins against the Toronto Raptors (twice), Oklahoma City Thunder, and the Dallas Mavericks.

Another version of the Kings are also filled with talent but play more sloppy and unmotivated in games. As a result, they have recorded losses against teams like the Minnesota Timberwolves (twice), Portland Trail Blazers, and the Philadelphia 76ers.

When comparing these two versions of the team, one significant factor differentiates the two, level of effort. When the Kings play with the effort that they are able to play with they can beat any team they played against. On the other hand, when the Kings become uninterested and play lethargic, well they can lose to any team as well.

Obviously playing with a high level of effort isn’t the only solution separating the team from contending in the postseason, but it has to be a component for the Kings to be consistent in going forward. One person that brings that aggressive and high energy mentality on a gamely basis is Quincy Acy.

Throughout this season, Quincy Acy seems to always be playing with a chip on his shoulder. Whenever he gets the chance to be on the court he is busting his butt whether is it grabbing rebounds, playing aggressive defense, or sprinting down the court.

It’s a quality in Acy that fans appreciate out of him, and also from the team as well. In the last couple of weeks, Acy has been granted more playing time due to injuries of Willie Cauley-Stein and Omri Casspi. Since Acy has been implemented into the Kings rotation the team has displayed more determination and effort.

The way he hustles on the court and makes plays off sheer effort have inspired the Kings and their fans, and, as a result, has made an impact in helping the Kings gain momentum in games.

Acy is not at all flashy, and averaging just 4 points a game isn’t knocking anyone off of their chair. But he is a guy that every team in the NBA should want to have. A player that no matter what situation is in the game or whether he’s assigned to play 5 or 25 minutes, he is going to play his butt off and going all out for his team.

Because of that, he needs to be part of the regular rotation for coach George Karl whether or not the roster is healthy.
