Under the previous ownership regime who shall be left nameless, former Kings legend Vlade Divac had a standing offer to join the franchise in a front office capacity.
Divac never accepted the offer (can you blame him?) citing prior commitments, but Divac has always maintained a desire to return to the NBA once his tenure as President of the Serbian Olympic Committee came to an end.
That time has come and according to Scott Howard-Cooper, the former Kings center is aiming for an NBA return, though has his sights on eventually becoming a general manager.
“My ultimate goal is one day — it doesn’t have to be tomorrow or two days, three days — I want to be a GM,” said Divac. “Go level by level.”
Obviously, with Pete D’Alessandro atop the Kings front office, there’s no room for Vlade in such a role with Sacramento. However given the fact that he’s open to coming in at a lesser capacity, one may believe there’s a good chance Divac could find work with the Kings as the former player said he’s had conversations with the franchise, though no job has been offered – yet.
The Serbian native simply stated that the two sides had talked and he informed them of his ‘plans’.
Hopefully there’s a reunion in the near future.
