The Sacramento Kings know playing time for Willie Reed at the NBA level would be minimal (at best), so the team has decided to assigned him to their NBDL affiliate, the Reno Big Horns.
Reed had been playing (mostly starting) for the NBDL’s Springfield Armor, so it’s not exactly a step down for Reed who previously spent time in both the Kings and Memphis Grizzlies training camps.
To make room on the roster, the Big Horns released Alfred Aboya. Reed is expected to make his debut with the Big Horns when they face Idaho.
Reed was signed by the Kings earlier this week for the remainder of the season and could have been brought up to the Kings considering they do have available roster space, though Sacramento’s front office will get a far better scouting report on Reed by watching him play in Reno.
