Under the Maloof ownership, it was said there was an ‘open door’ invite to legendary Sacramento Kings center Vlade Divac if he ever wanted to work in an NBA front office.
Divac never took the bait as he served as the President of the Serbian Olympic Committee. However, his time as president is coming to an end and Divac plans to return to California next year where he’ll look to join an NBA front office.
Since retiring, Divac returned to his homeland of Serbia and serves as the President of the Olympic Committee. He said he plans to return to California once his service ends next year and would seek a front office position with an NBA team.
One could reasonably assume that Divac, upon a return to the sunshine, would likely seek a position with one of his two former California based teams – the Los Angeles Lakers or the Sacramento Kings.
The Lakers of course said they didn’t hire Phil Jackson because there was ‘no room’ in the front office, so hopefully that remains the course and Divac will eventually return to the Kings franchise.
