Ersan Ilyasova suspended one game for Reggie Evans punch

The NBA’s hypocritical suspension rules have shown their ugly head, this time regarding the punches delivered to Reggie Evans during Sacramento’s victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday evening.

If you missed it, late in the fourth quarter both Evans and Milwaukee Bucks forward Ersan Ilyasova were in the post awaiting a rebound. That’s when Ilyasova lost his cool and promptly began punching Evans in the stomach, appearing to do so multiple times.

After the barrage of quick hitters, Ilyasova sent Evans to the ground with a hefty push which finally drew a whistle from the referees, though Ilyasova was not thrown out of the game.

The above actions lead to the league suspending Ilyasova for one game.

Now, in fairness to the Bucks forward, Reggie Evans isn’t what you’d call a sweetheart on the floor and I highly doubt Ilyasova did what he did without any reasoning. Still, that was a bit over the top.

If DeMarcus Cousins received a one game suspension for his turkey tap on Patrick Beverley, you’d have to think Ilyasova’s blackout would have been worth a couple games.
