The Sacramento Kings were blown out by the Houston Rockets on Tuesday night and spent much of the evening without DeMarcus Cousins, who was ejected in the second quarter.
Upset with himself, Cousins apologized via Twitter after the game.
Disappointed with the way I acted out on the court tonight. I want to apologize and say sorry to my team and the fans for letting them down
While Cousins certainly did the right thing in apologizing, it never should have gotten that far in the first place.
Assuming there was no inappropriate language used during Cousins’ first technical foul, he had every right to be shocked when Courtney Kirkland gave him the punishment, given he was simply laughing (to himself) over a foul call. The second technical however, Cousins actions were simply inappropriate and can’t be defended.
The addition of both technical fouls now pushed Cousins to a league leading 15, one away from a mandatory one-game suspension.
