Earlier today, news broke suggesting that the Sacramento Kings and Jimmer Fredette were working on a buyout.

And while that still may be the case, James Ham of Cowbell Kingdom reports that there won’t be a buyout today.

Being told that Jimmer Fredette will not be bought out and waived today by the Sacramento Kings. No idea if he will be in uniform tonight.

That said, Ham did go on to suggest that buyout or not, Fredette will not be returning to the Kings next season.

Given that – there’s little reason for the two sides to not agree on a buyout moving forward.

There was no reason given as to why a buyout wouldn’t be finalized at some point today.

Multiple teams are already salivating at the thought of signing Fredette for the remainder of the season, including the New York Knicks and Denver Nuggets – assuming Fredette does eventually get his walking papers.

For now, Fredette will remain nailed on the Kings bench as he’s only played in five games since February 5th, logging more than 8:25 just once.
