NBA Rumors: Sacramento Kings to be buyers at trade deadline?

The Sacramento Kings have been one of the most active teams in the trade market for months now, so it shouldn’t exactly be shocking that they’re considered to be buyers come the NBA’s trade deadline.

According to ESPN’s Chad Ford (via Hoops Rumors), the Kings are planning to make a push for the postseason and would like to acquire talent in the next few weeks.

Per Hoops Rumors:

Ford hears the Kings are looking to acquire talent rather than sell it off as they attempt a late charge at the postseason.

According to Ford’s piece, the most likely candidates to be moved are Marcus Thornton, Jimmer Fredette, Jason Thompson and Carl Landry.

We’ve known the Kings would love to move Thornton for quite some time and that Fredette and Thompson have been dangled in trade rumors, but the addition of Landry is new.

Still – unless it’s a salary dump scenario, it’s pretty difficult to think any combination of the above players could snag a player to push the Kings over the proverbial hump.

As always – take Ford’s reports with a grain of salt.
