Outside of Sacramento (and Lexington, Kentucky), Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins has an incredibly bad stigma attached to him.
Sure – some of it is self inflicted, but this is a guy who has never had an off-court issue and is somewhat treated like a criminal. Of course, few outside of a couple locales have ever gotten to know the loveable Cousins, who was hilarious in a recent promotional piece that the Sacramento Kings hope will help Cousins find his way to New Orleans for the 2014 NBA All-Star game.
The piece features cameos from Mayor Kevin Johnson, general manager Pete D’Alessandro, owner Vivek Ranadive and of course you – the fans.
Also – seems to me, if this whole basketball thing doesn’t work out, Cousins may have a second career in acting. I mean – he might not be Blake Griffin good – but he’s pretty solid.
Lastly – massive props to the Sacramento Kings’ marketing and video departments. Not only was the video a great idea, but the execution was flawless. Though in all honesty, we’ve come to expect it from them as they’re the best in the league.
