Professional sports is a business and that should never be overlooked. But business or not, there are real emotions and day-to-day lives that are being altered when a player is involved in a roster move. Maybe it’s a release or maybe it’s a trade. Either way, when a player is on the move it’s an emotional time – not only for him but his family and friends.

When news breaks and rumors of a trade leak, as a fan you instantly think about your team improved – not about how the life of the player you just acquired got turned upside down.

That’s exactly what took place when the Sacramento Kings acquired Rudy Gay, Aaron Gray and Quincy Acy from the Toronto Raptors in December, who just so happened to be playing down the I-5 in Los Angeles.

Taking on the Lakers later that evening, Gay and his teammates found out about the trade which clearly was a shock to everybody judging by their reactions:
