Derrick Williams could make Sacramento Kings debut on Friday

Early Tuesday, Derrick Williams was officially made a Sacramento King and Friday night, he might get his first official minutes a member of the team, this according to Marc Spears of Yahoo:

Current plan is for Derrick Williams to practice with the Kings on Thursday. The Kings host Clippers on Friday in Williams’ possible debut.

It’s doubtful the Kings will just throw Williams into the fire so he’ll likely be worked in slowly as he acclimates himself to Mike Malone’s system. That said, given the lack of production at the small forward position for Sacramento this season, Williams’ stay on the bench could be short lived as the Kings will do everything they can to give the former second overall pick an opportunity to run with the starting job.

Williams isn’t technically a small forward (though he did lose some weight to play the position at the request of the Wolves) as he’s more of a tweener, but that’s where the lion’s share of his minutes in Sacramento will come from – especially once Carl Landry returns from injury.
