A handful of games into his rookie season and Ben McLemore is already drawing rave reviews from NBA legends. Case in point? Dominique Wilkins, who was in town Tuesday night when the Hawks visited the Kings at Sleep Train.
Wilkins has always been one of the nicer guys in the league and shelling out compliments isn’t exactly something he tends to shy away from, but regardless, what he said about the former Kansas Jayhawk certainly had him smiling.
The NBA legend was pressed about the Kings rookie, in which he compared some of his skill set to Ray Allen:
“He’s so active, and he’s got a lot of bounce to his game,” said Wilkins, currently a Hawks television analyst. “When he comes off those screens, he’s going straight up and down with his jump shot, almost Ray Allen-ish in terms of how quickly he shoots the ball. And he moves very well without the ball. He impressed me, he impressed me. He’s not bad defensively already …. this kid is going to be a very good player in this league.”
Pretty gushing review from ‘Nique, if I say so myself.
