When Vivek Ranadive, Mark Mastrov and the remaining members of the Sacramento Kings ownership group allowed former Los Angeles Lakers big man Shaquille O’Neal to buy into their investment, they had a couple reasons behind it. One of which was publicity.

Few NBA players, past or present have a personality or name as large as Shaq and the Kings knew he’d get their name in the news.

They probably didn’t figure he’d also get them mentioned on Saturday Night Live, but that’s exactly what happened recently when ‘Shaq’ along with ‘Charles Barkley‘ appeared on the popular Weekend Update segment of the show, in which the former NBA center was asked about his most recent purchase – the Kings.

It wasn’t much more than a fifteen to twenty second blurb on the Kings, but still – how many times do you remember Sacramento being mentioned on SNL, especially in regards to the team?

Also, pretty solid representation of the big man, Jay Pharaoh.

I like the Kings. I like the name. I like Sacramento. Good town.
