Although the Sacramento Kings tipped off preseason action Monday night in Oakland against the Warriors, they were without point guard Greivis Vasquez who the team acquired in exchange for Tyreke Evans during the offseason.
Vasquez, who underwent offseason surgery on his ankle to remove bone spurs has been with the team, though, rather than pushing him needlessly, the Kings want to take a cautious approach before putting him in the lineup.
That will likely happen Monday night when the Kings host the Los Angeles Clippers.
Per Yahoo Sports’ Marc J. Spears:
Sacramento Kings point guard Greivis Vasquez is expected to make his debut against the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday, a source told Yahoo Sports.
The Kings only have one game between now and Monday, a matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers in Las Vegas on Thursday so the return should give Vasquez two games of preseason action before the regular season tips off later this month.
How coach Malone dictates the starting point guard duties are still unknown, though, the two extra preseason games Isaiah Thomas will see could potentially sway a decision.
