Although NBA commissioner David Stern will spend October 29th, opening night, in Miami to present the Heat with their NBA Championship rings, it won’t be the only stop on his mini tour.
According to the Sacramento Bee, Stern will spend the evening in the air, flying cross country where he will attend the Sacramento Kings season opener the following night, October 30th, against the Denver Nuggets.
Per Ailene Voisin:
While speaking with league sources about the four-year contract extension DeMarcus Cousins has agreed to with the Kings in principle, I learned another interesting bit of information: NBA Commissioner David Stern plans to attend the Kings home/season opener Oct. 30 at Sleep Train Arena.
Stern’s a pretty busy guy, even with his impending retirement coming after/near the All-Star break, so to spend the night flying from Miami to Sacramento, it’s no small gesture.
I know one thing – he’s going to feel like he’s in a time capsule back to 2001.
Sleep Train is going to be shaking off its foundation opening night – what a way for King fans to say thank you and send him on his way into retirement as it could possibly be the final time he attends a game in Sacramento as commissioner.
