Just a quick reminder for our readers today as the Sacramento Kings begin play in the 2013 Las Vegas Summer League later this afternoon.
The Kings open up against the Dallas Mavericks at 3PM local time today at the Cox Pavilion, though if you can’t be there in person, we have good news. NBATV will broadcast the game live this afternoon, so make sure you tune in if you have a moment.
The league features a unique and different format this year which will crown a Summer League champion, though, as witnessed in the Orlando Summer League – few (even the players/teams) seemed to care much.
All participating teams will play a minimum of five games. After the conclusion of games on July 16, all teams will have completed three games and will be seeded for single-elimination tournament play that will lead to a champion being crowned on July 22.
Sacramento will play again on Monday evening against the Golden State Warriors at 5:30 local time.
For many, draft picks Ben McLemore and Ray McCallum may be the only recognizable names as the Kings roster doesn’t feature any current Kings outside of those two. Still, now with a D-League team of their own after the Kings bought the basketball operations side of the Reno Big Horns, the franchise will have much more reason to scout for promise than in years before.
