Sacramento Kings Trade Tyreke Evans to New Orleans Pelicans for Greivis Vasquez

And just like that, he’s gone.

Former NBA Rookie of the Year Tyreke Evans will become a member of the New Orleans Pelicans on July 10th when the Sacramento Kings, Portland Trail Blazers and Pelicans can officially complete the three team trade.

The Kings, who will sign Evans and then trade him to New Orleans will acquire point guard Greivis Vasquez. Portland will acquire big man Robin Lopez, though, it’s not exactly known from who at this point and time. Lopez could be traded to Sacramento who will then flip him to Portland for cash and pick(s) or the Pelicans could send Lopez to Portland for the cash and pick(s). Either way, Portland will be giving some combination of picks and cash and will absorb Lopez’s contract with their cap space.

The trade ends Tyreke’s four year career as a King, a bittersweet moment for many, no doubt.

We’ll have reaction and break down of the trade upcoming.

For now, from all of us at A Royal Pain, we wish Reke and his crew the best in Nola.

Why did you want to get rid of Evans anyway?

With players like Thornton, Evans, and Salmons the offense lacked ball movement. With a pass first PG in Vasquez and a 2 that can play without the ball (Mclemore) the Kings may have gotten better on offense and stay big in the backcourt. Look for Thornton and/or Jimmer to get traded for a 3 that can guard/shoot and the Kings will have a slightly less talented roster but one with pieces that fit. Evan’s was talented but probably more pricey than he’s worth.
