While Sacramento King fans are used to being in the dark come NBA Draft night, there appears to be a bit of light shining from the Kings’ new front office – at least – so it seems.
Multiple reports in the past few days have suggested that the Sacramento Kings were extremely interested in drafting Lehigh’s C.J. McCollum and according to Joe Kotoch of Sheridan Hoops, that’s exactly what they intended to do.
Per Sheridan Hoops:
Lehigh’s C.J. McCollum is shooting up boards and will be the 7th pick to Sacramento unless a team trades up in front of the Kings to grab the talented scorer.
The NBA recently announced that no trades were submitted to the league office before the 2PM deadline, so any team hoping to trade up for McCollum would require one of the top six teams to draft him and then trade him.
For the Kings and their fans, McCollum has made quite the impression. A smart, gifted guard out of a smaller school, many have compared McCollum to the 2012-13 Rookie of the Year award winner, Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers.
Both Draft Express and NBADraft.net also have the Kings selecting McCollum, for what it’s worth.
