Lehigh’s C.J. McCollum has been skyrocketing up draft boards lately and he has found himself firmly planted in the laps of the Sacramento Kings, at least, according to a handful of mock drafts. In addition to being selected by the Sacramento Kings in the NBADraft.net mock, ESPN Insider Chad Ford has the Kings selecting McCollum as well.

While he says McCollum doesn’t exactly fit with the Kings, he’s not sure the majority of the roster will be in Sacramento on opening night so he isn’t worried about the current fitting.

Per Ford during his ESPN Chat:

Q: What’s wrong with the Kings taking C.J. McCollum and keeping him as a 2-guard? I know they have plenty of guards who take shots, but not any who make them. McCollum has been lights out from reports in workouts with the Kings coaching staff.

A: I have the Kings taking McCollum there. He’s not a fit, but I honestly don’t think much of this roster will be there on opening night. So you don’t just take fit. I also think the Kings are seriously considering trading down to pick up a couple of assets. Utah is a possibility.

If we can’t find a way to get Oladipo, I want McCollum or Burke!

I think McCollum has a better ceiling than Burke. It’s time to shake up the whole roster and McCollum could be an absolute steal!
