As with anything reported by the ‘mothership’, it needs to be taken with a grain of salt but ESPN ‘insider’ Chad Ford is reporting that the Sacramento Kings could very well indeed shake up the 2013 NBA Draft.
The Kings, who select seventh, are (at least according to Ford) showing interest in Tony Snell and Tim Hardaway Jr., both of whom are in Sacramento today for a workout.
Kings could really shake-up the draft at 7. Heard they like both Tony Snell & Tim Hardaway Jr. a lot. Both in Sacramento today working out
While the interest in Snell and Hardaway Jr. could be legit, there’s no conceivable way that either player would be taken with the Kings selection spot which could spark rumors about a potential trade.
What type of a trade? That remains to be seen. If the Kings fall in love with either Snell or Hardaway, they could attempt to snag another first round pick (the Dallas Mavericks, who select 13th are doing everything they can to trade Shawn Marion and the #13 pick) or the Kings could trade away the seventh pick in a larger scale deal.
Either way, as Ford says, they certainly do hold some cards to shake up the draft – assuming they wanted to do so.
