There’s a good chance that if you’ve ever worked in an NBA front office, you were somehow linked to the Sacramento Kings general manager job.
But now just a few weeks away from the 2013 NBA Draft, it appears that the Sacramento Kings have weeded out the vast majority of names and according to Sam Amick, are focused in on a few key evaluators.
Per everybody’s favorite scribe, Sam Amick:
Hearing that Memphis GM Chris Wallace, former Pacers GM David Morway & Layden are atop Ranadive’s list. And the draft nears…
The Layden news, which was reported last night, had a large handful of King fans finding cover but both Morway and Wallace have been met with appeasement, at least for the most part.
Layden of course is most famous for his time with the New York Knicks which resulted in Madison Square Garden showering their former GM in multiple “Layden sucks” chants. ESPN named the Knicks, during Layden’s tenure, the “worst franchise in pro sports” – a ringing endorsement if I’ve ever heard one.
Layden is currently the San Antonio Spurs assistant GM, if that eases any of your fears or feelings of needing to vomit.
Wallace of course is known for his time as GM of the Memphis Grizzlies and Boston Celtics while David Morway is one of the many talented front office names to come out of the Pacers organization.
