Have Sacramento Kings Hired Mike Malone As Head Coach?

A bit of unique weird oddball news tonight from none other than Brendan Suhr, former assistant of Hall of Fame coach Chuck Daly.

Suhr randomly tweeted a congratulations to Mike Malone this evening, fueling rumors that the Kings have indeed signed Malone to be their next head coach.

Per Suhr’s tweet:

Congrats to Mike Malone on becoming HC of Sac Kings His Dad Brendan & I were C Daly’s asst w/ Bad Boys. He has paid his dues. Proud of him.

There’s (at least so far) been no confirmation of the suggestion from any of the normal NBA scribes, but Suhr could have direct inside knowledge to the situation.

Malone was recently reported to be in Los Angeles interviewing for the Clippers head coaching vacancy, but reports earlier this afternoon had folks spotting Byron Scott in Los Angeles (who also interviewed for the job) working out in Clippers shorts – a sign that maybe the Clippers had already found their man.

We’ll continue to update if anything else comes of this.
